About The V.S.I.B.

A product is only as good and effective as it’s installation. You may remember when alarms seemed to go off all the time keeping us awake. This was more often than not due to poor installation.

The “Vehicle Systems Installation Board” was set up in 1994 with the support of the Home Office to help defeat this and the vehicle crime problem in the UK. It has now developed into the national regulatory and accreditation body for installers and their installations. It now includes radios, telephones, in car entertainment, security and navigation systems.

Many Thatcham (insurance) approved security products mean nothing unless installed by a VSIB approved installer and accompanied with a VSIB certificate that has been properly stamped and embossed. In some cases, you may find if your insurance insists on a Thatcham approved security system and it has been installed by a non VSIB registered outfit, you may not be covered for theft.

Some insurers offer a discount with a VSIB certificate.
